Casa
Miguel Torga

Casa Miguel Torga is the result of a physical rehabilitation, museology and museography project promoted by the Northern Regional Directorate of Culture between 2017 and 2021 and co-financed by Tourism of Portugal. Casa Miguel Torga is supervised by the Municipality of Sabrosa and managed by Espaço Miguel Torga. In the late 1950s, the house underwent a renovation led by Andrée Crabbé Rocha, Miguel Torga's wife, which gave it the configuration we can observe today. Used as a holiday home until 2014, it was donated that year, along with its collection, by Clara Crabbé Rocha, Miguel Torga's daughter, for the preservation of the writer's legacy and public enjoyment as a house-museum. Since 2019, the house has been classified as a Property of Public Interest - IMP.

The Northern Regional Directorate of Culture is a decentralized body of the Ministry of Culture and develops its activity aimed at safeguarding, preserving, restoring and communicating - to different types of audiences - the values of material and intangible culture existing in the region. Work developed in articulation with different territorial agents, such as central administration institutions existing in the region, local authorities, ecclesiastical institutions, educational institutions, associations, among others. The breadth of competences and deep knowledge of the Region give the Northern Regional Directorate of Culture an integrated vision of the cultural sector. Thus, while respecting the specificities of each intervention area, articulation between cultural heritage, museums and artistic production is promoted, in order to enhance available resources and create mutually enriching relationships.
